The Cosmonaut

Conceptually, the development for this character began in 2016 during my senior year of undergrad at the University of Delaware. The Cosmonaut, incorporates two major traits of mine, introversion as well as ADD, and unites them into this retro-futuristic loner who has become my own personal avatar within my artwork.

As a highly introverted child who went several years undiagnosed with ADD, I heard a phrase so many times that it influences me to my core. "Peter, stop spacing out" or "Peter, come back down to earth please". The recognition of this common occurrence lead me to bridge the gap between myself and my art work by giving a voice to the lonely inner child grounded by the gravity of reality.

The early works are done traditionally with Oil on Canvas and were influenced by sci-fi book covers of the 1950's and 60's but also soviet era, "Fallout 3", and "2001 a Space Odyssey" space suit designs. Project date range April 2016 - November 2017 (current).
